Even Here

On Christmas Eve, we re-watched the Nativity Story.  There is a scene in this movie where Mary, feeling rather hopeless, is talking with her mother.  Her mom reminds Mary that there is always hope, and Mary's response is, "Even in Nazareth?"  Even there.

"If I ... dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me."

Even there.

Even here.

There ... in the abundance and distress and heartache and stress.

Here ... in the chaos and clutter and noise and hopelessness.

HE is patiently calling people to Himself "from every tribe and language and people and nation" ...

A new song will be sung.

Rest.  Wait.  Anticipate.

You never know what this new day will bring.

Even there.

Even here.
