What Now?

There was a collection of songs that filled our Javanese house back during the days of Indonesian Language School.  The house was situated in a kampung (getto-like area) of a huge city.  We lived there amidst the cockroaches and the mosques for nearly a year learning the language, the culture, and even how to be parents.  Tehya was 2.  Paeton was 3 months old.  Poverty and hopelessness was in my face; I couldn't ignore it.  And as the songs like "He Makes All Things New" filled the rooms, God began to inspire me to look for jewels in Indonesia.

I listened to parts of that same musical collection this morning, being that today is exactly 9 years since we moved across the ocean to Indonesia.  The song "What Now?" resonated with where Chris and I have now been for over a year:  the standing-at-a-crossroads-with-open-hands, wondering where we should go from here.

What now?

And after looking down the different roads as far as we could, asking questions and taking steps out on the water ... He has captured our hearts again with the call to go to Indonesia.  We are casting out our nets a second time ...
