Walking on Gold

She awakes each morning on the floor, sometimes dampened by the rain. She's held her daughter through the night, who's frightened by the weekly storms. She rises early before the rest, scrubs the clothes and hangs them out. As she works a song floats off her tongue, to an unseen God Whom she knows is near. Her faith in Jesus, unlike her race, is bold beyond compare. Others mock and question why, they'd rather see and touch what they worship. But she, unafraid of what they might think, holds tightly to Christ's words. Her eyes fixed above, but humble as a servant, she always looks forward. This little woman brings encouragement to my days. She knows not the example she's been to me. But one day I know she will be wearing a crown ... and walking on gold.
